This chapter aims to provide an overview of brain mechanisms underlying human motion perception. The chapter comprises four sections. We begin with a short review of the motion pathways in the primate visual system, emphasizing work from single-cell recordings in Old World monkeys; more extensive reviews of this literature appear elsewhere.
