In this age of IT revolution, connectivity has become a serious need for information transfer with Internet and intranet requiring exceptionally high bandwidths. A serious aspect of connectivity is the wide area network. For these applications we have fixed point to point solutions such as copper based, fiber optic based and wireless solutions. The first two have a very high installation cost, with respect to laying of cables and installing various network equipments, whereas wireless solutions do not have an overhead of laying down a dedicated physical medium. Thus wireless communication has gained immense importance in the present scenario.
